The Pig launches eco-friendly lodge
The original Pig hotel in the New Forest has expanded with the launch of an eco-friendly pre-fabricated lodge.
Known as Bert's Box, the lodge has been created in conjunction with designers Bert & May Spaces and architects Box 9. Judy Hutson, who has designed the interiors of all four Pig hotels in the New Forest, Southampton, Bath and Studland Bay, has also been responsible for the look of the new lodge.
Featuring a bedroom, lounge/kitchen area and shower room, the lodge has a Stovax log burner and a storage and heating system, while double glazed doors and windows have been selected to allow for maximum light and air flow through the box.
The opening of Bert's Box takes the number of rooms at the four-year-old hotel up to 30.
Rates start at £395 from Monday to Thursday, rising to £425 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Founded by Robin Hutson, the Pig will open a fifth property next year with the launch of the Pig at Combe, near Honiton, Devon, which is currently being transformed from Combe House hotel.
