Thomas Piat leaves Bar Boulud

Thomas Piat, executive chef of Bar Boulud at the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park hotel in London, is to leave to take on a new role with Hélène Darroze in Paris.

Piat (pictured), originally from France, joined the restaurant when it opened in 2010.

He briefly left London in 2012 to work for charcutier Gilles Verot but returned as executive sous chef and was promoted to executive chef in 2015.

A spokesperson for Bar Boulud said: "Thomas Piat has been a key member of the Bar Boulud, London team since its opening in May 2010 and we will shortly be announcing a new replacement."

It is not yet known what his new project with Darroze involves.
