Three new hotel openings mark first new build properties for Best Western

Best Western Great Britain has announced the addition of more than 300 new beds to the brand in Greater London as a result of three new build openings.

The brand has opened three Best Western Plus properties, in Croydon, Vauxhall and Wembley; the first time Best Western GB has brought new build properties into its portfolio. The openings bring the number of Best Western GB properties opened in the past year to 11, the total number of UK hotels to 250 and more than 15 properties in the pipeline for 2017.

The 107-bedroom Best Western Plus London Croydon Aparthotel which opened last month is themed around Croydon's industrial heritage and has its own pizza restaurant. It is part of the Euro Hotels group, which has two other properties in the Best Western portfolio in Peckham and Wembley, with properties in Crystal Palace and Hounslow to follow.

A second 28-bedroom Best Western Plus, part of Kaz Hotels, is scheduled to open in Vauxhall in mid-February. The third new property, the 174-bedroom, sports-themed Best Western Plus London Wembley hotel, is scheduled to open in March.

A conversion and extension of a former government building, the hotel is located five minutes' walk from Wembley Stadium.

The expansion is part of a wider strategy to introduce greater differentiation within the brand. Best Western GB has four brands: Best Western, Best Western Plus, Best Western Premier and BW Premier Collection, with an increasing number of four-star properties in the collection.

Best Western GB's director of hotel services, Mirelle Maunder-Brown said: "We're really excited about this announcement, which we hopes marks the beginning of many more new build developments and property launches in Great Britain."

Gauhar Nawab, chairman of Euro Hotels, added: "The Best Western brands are perfect for our property portfolio, and the support we have received so far from the brand has been excellent. We have been excited to launch the Best Western Plus London Croydon Aparthotel as our second hotel into Best Western, having already seen significant benefits of our other properties joining the brand."
