Three new UK members for Relais & Chateaux

Three new members have joined Relais & Chateaux, taking its portfolio of properties in the UK up to 32.

They are: Northcote in Lango, Lancashire; Hartwell House, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire (pictured); and the Greenhouse restaurant, London.

Craig Bancroft said that he and his business partner, Nigel Haworth, are "very proud" to be joining the sales and marketing consortium, which now has 530 members worldwide.

"It's something we've been striving for, and how wonderful to now have a Relais & Chateaux property in Lancashire and in the very heart of the Ribble Valley."

The 18-bedroom, four-red-AA-star hotel has a Michelin star and will celebrate its 30th anniversary next year.

Meanwhile, the 46-bedroom, four-red-AA-star Hartwell House, which belongs to Historic House Hotels, recently celebrated its silver anniversary as a hotel. It will be rejoining Relais, having previously been a member.

Jonathan Thompson, general manager of Hartwell since the 17th century former stately home was converted to a hotel 25 years ago, said: "We are delighted to have rejoined Relais & Chateaux, and look forward to welcoming many new guests to Hartwell House."

The Greenhouse becomes the fourth stand-alone restaurant in the UK to join Relais, alongside Le Gavroche and Hibiscus in London and the Waterside Inn in Bray, Berkshire. Headed in the kitchen by Arnaud Bignon, the restaurant holds two Michelin stars.
