Three restaurants shortlisted for 2018 Menu of the Year Catey

The first three restaurants to make the shortlist for The Caterer‘s Menu of the Year Catey award 2018 have been revealed.

Anglo in London, Aster in London, and the Latymer restaurant in the Pennyhill Park hotel in Surrey were all successful in making the cut after appearing in The Caterer‘s Menuwatch feature between May 2017 and July 2017.

• Menuwatch: Anglo

• Menuwatch: Aster

• Menuwatch: Matt Worswick at the Latymer

Restaurants are selected quarterly from all the menus featured on the Menuwatch pages of the Chef section of over the previous three months. The full shortlist of 12 menus will be judged in May 2018.

The menus are judged on innovation within the price bracket of that particular establishment or contract; good use of seasonal produce on the menu; creativity of the dishes being served; careful marrying of textures and flavours of the component ingredients; value for money; and, seeing the menu or selection of dishes, whether the judges would be tempted to eat there.

Last year, Jun Tanaka's the Ninth in London won the award. His restaurant beat competition from Norn in Edinburgh, Smokestak in London, and Wine & Brine in Moira, County Down.

The Caterer Awards, in their 35th year in 2018 and also known as the Cateys, will take place on 3 July 2018. To explore sponsorship opportunities, contact Rob Adam at
