Tim Cordon joins the Cumberland hotel as general manager

Guoman Hotels has appointed Tim Cordon as general manager of the Cumberland hotel with immediate effect.

Cordon has a 10-year track record in developing flagship properties within the Radisson SAS portfolio, including Radisson Blu Portman Square and Radisson Blu Stansted Airport hotels.

Cordon will be in charge, not only of the hotel's bedrooms and meetings & events space, but also its late-night destination venue, Carbon. The appointment sees the property's former general manager Stuart Chappell heading across to Beijing with the group where he will oversee Guoman Hotels' second international hotel opening.

Heiko Figge, managing director, Guoman & Thistle Hotels, said: "Guoman Hotels has warmly welcomed Tim to our group - we are truly delighted and incredibly excited to have this high calibre of hotelier spearheading the future of this multi-faceted property.

"Tim's blatant passion and energy that he guarantees to bring to this role will no doubt ensure the Cumberland retains its positing as an international, inspirational, experience-led hotel."

Due to open in 2011, Guoman Hotels' Beijing property follows its five-star Shanghai hotel which opened in June.
