Travelodge head office employee admits theft

A Travelodge team leader working at the company's head office in Thame has admitted stealing £18,585 from the budget chain.

According to The Oxford Times Marc Mather admitted processing 40 unauthorised refunds to his bank account. Between October 2013 and May 2014 he transferred £18,585.

His defence lawyer Lance Whiteford told Oxford Crown Court that Mather stole the money to impress his then partner, and that he had already paid back £11,363.26.

Mather was sentenced to a year in prison suspended for 24 months, ordered to carry out 250 hours unpaid work and repay the remaining £7,221.81 along with £200 costs and £100 victims' surcharge.
