Trenython Manor named Considerate Hotel of the Year
Trenython Manor in St Austell has been named hotel of the year at the Considerate Hotel of the Year awards.
The hotel in Cornwall was described as a being passionate in its pursuit of environmental integrity, being involved in more than 20 initiatives that support sustainable practices.
It moved the judges with initiatives that included the construction of bird and bat boxes, the placing of bee logs around the grounds, the development of a woodland glade butterfly garden and creation of nature walks.
The Considerate Marketing Award went to the Draycott hotel in London for its Keen to be Green campaign. It includes a collection of maps in rooms and public areas which include routes that provide a carbon-free way to explore London.
Meanwhile, the hotel also provides green tours and encourages staff to travel to work by bike, when possible.
The Draycott hotel company accountant, Vahan Hovhannisyan, who has spearheaded the hotel's environmental initiatives, said: "We concentrated on engaging guests in this initiative and encouraging them to take part.
