British B&Bs took eight out of the top 10 places in the world, with six based in England and two in Scotland.
Topping the list was the Twenty One in Brighton, which climbed from sixth place last year. Owners Matt Fletcher and Andy Cole were described by TripAdvisor as "the perfect hosts", serving "superb breakfasts" and providing "comfy beds".
Second was last year's winner, the Old Manse at Invermoriston, a detached house with cascading waterfall and mountain views near Loch Ness in the Scottish Highlands.
In third place was the Riverside Hotel in Ambleside in the Lake District, which features a room with a four-poster bed and spa bath and another with a "wet room" with under-floor heating.
