Troon's Marine hotel to be managed by UK division of Interstate Europe

Hetherley Capital Partners and Cannock Investments bought the four-AA-star, 89-bedroom hotel overlooking the 18th hole of the Royal Troon golf course, off a guide price of £7m from the Hotel Collection, which operates under the Amaris Hospitality portfolio.

They plan to refurbish the Edwardian property and "restore it to its former glory". The hotel will play a significant role in next year's Open Golf Championships, having previously hosted the event on eight occasions.

Robert Crook, managing director for the UK division of Interstate, said: "We're delighted to add this iconic hotel to our burgeoning portfolio and look forward to working alongside the new owners to build upon the popularity of its facilities for private dining, weddings and larger corporate events as well as tourists to this attractive coastal destination.

"The hotel will remain independent and retain its name as the Marine hotel."

A division of the US-based management company Interstate Hotels & Resorts, the UK operation manages more than 60 hotels with nearly 7,500 bedrooms in the UK under franchise agreements with InterContinental Hotels Group, Hilton Worldwide, AccorHotels, Wyndham and Best Western. It also operates a number of independent properties.
