Two Mint hotels in London rebranded as Doubletree by Hilton

The conversion of the two Mint hotels in London to Doubletree by Hilton properties are the first two UK hotels within the group to be rebranded following their acquisition by private equity company, the Blackstone Group in September.

The sale of the eight-strong Mint Hotel portfolio - seven in the UK and one in Amsterdam - for a reported £600m marked one of the largest hotel deals in Europe for four years. All of the hotels are to be rebranded to the upscale, full-service Doubletree by Hilton or mid-market Hilton Garden Inn brands.

The 583-bedroom DoubleTree by Hilton London-Tower of London and 460-bedroom DoubleTree by Hilton London-Westminster opened today.

Simon Vincent, area president Europe, Hilton Worldwide, said: "The dynamic European growth of Doubletree by Hilton, with more than 25 hotels opened since 2008 and 25 additional hotels under development across the region, indicates remarkable promise for the brand as we enter 2012."

The Amsterdam hotel has already been rebranded as the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel Amsterdam Centraal Station and the remaining five Mint hotels with be rebranded by early 2012.

Hilton Worldwide currently has 220 hotels in Europe, with a further 110 development projects underway.
