Two Scottish castle hotels up for sale
Two imposing castle hotels, close to the Scottish border, have been put on the market after the owner, PAG Hotels, went into administration](http://www.caterersearch.com/Articles/2010/07/08/334238/castle-auchen-hotel-owner-in-administration.htm).
The baronial style 12-bedroom [Castle Venlaw hotel,](http://www.venlaw.co.uk/) set in two-and-a-half acres of grounds on the outskirts of Peebles, is inviting offers in excess of £795,000, while the 25-bedroom [Auchen Castle hotel](http://www.auchencastle.com/), located in 28 acres of land with a private loch near Moffat, is being marketed for more than £1.25m.
Castle Venlaw has a bar, restaurant and meeting room, and Auchen Castle, a former Victorian residence, has a dining room, two lounges and two conference rooms.
PAG Hotels was placed in administration on 29 June 2010 and the hotels are being offered for sale by Blair Nimmo and David Costley-Wood. Both hotels remain open and are being offered for sale as fully operational businesses.
Alistair Letham, a director with the selling agents [Colliers International](http://www.colliers.com/), said the properties were well-established leisure destination that were popular as wedding venues. "They both trade at good levels of turnover and there is an opportunity for new owners to re-establish the businesses back to the levels of profitability that were previously enjoyed," he said.
