UK fares well in US readers' poll

Readers of US title Travel + Leisure magazine have voted four UK properties into this year's World's Best awards.

Luxury hotels Claridge's and the Goring gave London plenty to cheer about in the top 100 hotels round-up, while New Milton's Chewton Glen and Inverlochy Castle at Fort William in Scotland proved there's plenty for tourists to enjoy outside the capital.

Ireland was represented in the top 100 by Sheen Falls Lodge at Kenmare. Duke's hotel at St James's Place in London achieved a listing in the European hotel section.

Best hotel in the world went to the Four Seasons resort in Bali Sayan.
