Welsh hotel changes hands

The three-star, 28-bedroom Ty Newydd Hotel at Hirwaun, Mid Glamorgan, has been sold on behalf of Drayton Manor Hotels through agent Colliers Robert Barry. The agents were inviting offers over £950,000 for the freehold.

New owners Eddie and Melanie Hillier previously ran their own engineering and computing company in West London.

Refurbishment of one of the function suites will be under way shortly.

Another improvement is the progressive upgrade of the bedrooms to include business wireless networking as they hope to develop the business market as well as attract more tourists to the hotel.
