Western House near Prestwick has been named Scottish National Hotel of the Year 2009 in the annual Scottish Hotel of the Year Awards.

Western House's William Goral was named as Scottish Hotelier of the Year, also.

McMillan Hotels was named as Scottish Hotel Group of the Year in the awards, which are sponsored by hotel review website Hotel Review Scotland.

Edinburgh's Rutland hotel, part of the Signature Pub Group, picked up a trio of awards with Best New Scottish Hotel, Scottish Hotel Design and Best Bar Award, for it lounge club, The One Below.

Awards organiser Robert Gilmour said: "Our awards help showcase the very best of Scottish hospitality to visitors looking for information online and we hope that winners like The Rutland Hotel will benefit from the exposure gained this way."
