Wetherspoon's triumphs at Loo of the Year Awards
JD Wetherspoon has been voted winner of the Loo of the Year Awards 2011 in the hospitality sector.
Independent judges assessed hundreds of toilets in the UK in the hospitality sector, including hotels, restaurants, pubs, cafés, coffee shops and quick-service/fast-food restaurants.
The company also won the title of UK Trophy Winner in the Corporate Provider category. It also won all four national awards in the pubs and wine bars category across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
In addition, Wetherspoon's had the highest number individual toilets rated at four and five stars, with a total of 198 five-star winners and 36 four-star winners.
The four pubs that won the individual titles were; the Bishops Mill, Durham (England); the Gordon Highlander, Inverurie (Scotland); the Aneurin Bevan, Cardiff (Wales); and the Ice Wharf, Derry (Northern Ireland).
The Loo of the Year Awards managing director, Mike Bone, said: "JD Wetherspoon has some unique, attractive and high-quality customer toilets and it is a credit to their management that high standards are maintained, year on year."
