Wood Norton to reopen as hotel following £4m refurbishment
Wood Norton in the Vale of Evesham is set to reopen as a 50-bedroom boutique hotel in October, following a £4m restoration of the Grade II listed building.
Owned by the BBC from 1939 to 2002, when it was used for training and as a listening post during the Cold War, the property was last open as a hotel in 2009 and has since fallen into disrepair. Earlier this year it was bought by a British investor and will re-open under the management of Bespoke Hotels.
The hall, the oldest part of the property dating back to 1897, features 20 traditional bedrooms alongside the dining room, bar, snooker room and various lounge and meeting rooms.
A further 30 contemporary bedrooms have been created in Pear Tree Mews, the former stables and coach house set around a cobbled courtyard, while Smith's House, once the estate's blacksmiths, will become the hotel's business centre.
A mix of dining experiences will be on offer, with a British menu being the focus of the dining room and a more informal, all-day food and beverage option available in the bar. Next year will see the opening of a spa at Wood Norton.
General manager of the property is Oliver Cooke, who previously worked at the Bath Spa hotel.
