Work starts on development of London's Gansevoort hotel

Work has begun on the development in London's Shoreditch of the first overseas outpost of the New York-based company, the Gansevoort Hotel Group.

Due to open at the end of 2015 or early 2016, the 120-bedroom hotel is described as a "full-service urban resort" and will feature a restaurant, bar, rooftop pool and lounge, 24-hour fitness centre and over 6,000sq ft of meeting and event space.

The hotel is being developed in Curtain Road in conjunction with creative development consultancy SUSD.

Michael Achenbaum (pictured) of the Gansevoort Hotel Group founded the company when he opened Gansevoort Meanpacking in 2004 and has since gone on to launch the Gansevoort Park Avenue and the Gansevoort Turk & Caicos in the Caribbean.
