New Mandarin Hotel in Chicago
The Mandarin Hotel Group is to manage a new 250-bedroom luxury hotel in Chicago, opening in early 2008. The Mandarin Oriental, Chicago will occupy 15 floors of a new 90-storey tower in the new Millennium Park neighbourhood. The hotel will also have an 80-seat restaurant, spa café, bar and cake shop.

Club Med profits rise after last year's losses Club Med's fortunes have improved after sustaining losses of €4m (£2.67m) in the first half of 2004 and €29m (£19.33m) in the same period in 2003. The company reported a net profit of €3m (£2m) for the same period this year. Operating profit has increased by €3m (£2m) to €35m (£23.33m).

Stein Group to manage Monte-Carlo Hotel
Luxury small hotel company the Stein Group has signed an agreement to manage the Monte-Carlo Port Palace Hotel in Monaco. The hotel is the group's second property in the French Riviera after the hotel Château Eza. The company currently owns seven luxury hotels in Europe; the eighth, the Gran Hotel Miramar is due to open in Barcelona in 2006 and the Gran Hotel El Cortesin in Casares in Southern Spain opens in 2007.

Hilton history made in Beijing
Hilton has completed its brand line-up in Beijing. Alongside the existing Hilton Beijing, the city will now boast a Conrad hotel and a Scandic by Hilton. The luxury Conrad will open in 2008 with 200 bedrooms and 100 serviced apartments. The Scandic, Hilton's mid-market brand, will offer 400 bedrooms and 100 serviced apartments and will also open in 2008.

Sheraton Hotel embraces environmentally friendly technology Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide has installed an environmentally-friendly power plant at its Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers in Manhattan, the third Sheraton hotel to do so.
