Wyndham Hotel Group to take Planet Hollywood Hotels brand global

Wyndham Hotel Group has struck a deal to develop Planet Hollywood Hotels into a global brand, with London one of the new venture's prime targets for expansion.

Wyndham's agreement with restaurant chain Planet Hollywood will see it acting as master franchisor for the hotel brand, which will be based on the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.

The Ramada, Days Inn and Super 8 owner will be looking for property holders in cities such as London, New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Paris and Barcelona as part of a global roll-out of the brand.

Wyndham will also provide management services at the new Planet Hollywood Hotels sites.

Eric Danziger, chief executive of Wyndham, said: "The addition of an entertainment-based hotel offering will complement Wyndham's strong global portfolio by expanding its appeal to a much wider audience."

The Planet Hollywood brand was founded in 1989 by Robert Earl with backing from Hollywood action stars Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
