The Zetter hotel in east London has unveiled details of its private members' club, which it plans to launch at the end of this year, Caterersearch can reveal.
The 53-bedroom Clerkenwell-based property will open the club in two Georgian townhouses on the edge of St John's Square behind the hotel, which it has taken over. The houses will undergo a refurbishment during the spring and summer and it is anticipated the new club will open in the run-up to Christmas 2010.
Club facilities will include two lounges, two private dining/meeting rooms, a bar and nine bedrooms. The bedrooms, three of which will be suites, will be available both to club members and the general public.
Zetter co-owner Mark Sainsbury told Caterersearch that he wanted the new club to become known as a place for "intelligent conversation".
"We had been looking for the right building to house our second venue for nearly three years so it was quite a surprise to find such a fantastic site just the other side of St John's Square," he said.
The Zetter's expansion plans come hot on the heels of its recent confirmation that French chef Bruno Loubet is to open a restaurant at the hotel in February.
Loubet, one of the most respected chefs on the London restaurant scene in the 1990s, has been working in Australia for the past eight years. Food from his new restaurant will be available at the Zetter's private members' club, although the latter will not have a dedicated restaurant area.
The Zetter was opened by restaurateurs Sainsbury and Michael Benyan in 2004.
