Hunton Park hotel in Watford sold off guide price of £16m

The 62-bedroom Hunton Park hotel in Watford, Hertfordshire, is to undergo a £3m refurbishment after being sold to Neal Khanna off an asking price of £16m.

Khanna also owns the 100-bedroom Denham Grove hotel in Denham. Buckinghamshire, and Asian catering event company the Clay Oven.

Hunton Park, located within a 22-acre estate, will continue to be managed by Countrywide Hotels, the operator of 35 hotels across the UK, including Denham Grove, but will no longer be branded as a Mercure property.

The hotel was previously owned by Serani Hotels after being sold by Principal Hotel Company in 2017, when it was a De Vere property, off a guide price of £10m.

Khanna said: "I am very pleased to have acquired the Hunton Park hotel and add another quality asset to our portfolio. Moving forward the hotel will be called the Hunton Park and it will complement our existing hotel and catering business, I look forward to developing the hotel further into a boutique and destination property."

Darren Patt, managing director of Countrywide Hotels, said: "We are delighted to be working with Neal on this new project. Hunton Park offers a great business opportunity, it is in a great location and offers a wonderful place to stay, eat and socialise for guests."

The Queen Anne-built Hunton Park features the Huntsman's Pantry & Bar, 10 events spaces and a swimming pool.
