Inverlochy Castle owners acquire Isle of Skye’s Uig hotel

Inverlochy Castle Limited has acquired the Uig hotel on the Isle of Skye for an undisclosed sum as it looks to bolster its Highlands and Islands portfolio.

The company, which owns Inverlochy Castle near Fort William, Knockendarroch hotel in Pitlochry and Rocpool Reserve in Inverness, completed the purchase of the Isle of Skye property from owners Billy and Anne Harley this week.

The 19-bedroom Uig hotel will be operated by Inverlochy Castle Management International (ICMI), which manages hotels across Scotland such as Glenfinnan House hotel, the Inch hotel, Isle of Eriska Hotel & Spa, and Thackray House hotel in Callander, in addition to the hotels mentioned in the previous paragraph.

The Uig hotel, which also comprises a bar and restaurant, will operate as normal during the change in ownership.

The property sits on the hillside above Uig Bay on the Trotternish peninsula and is located just five minutes away from the ferry terminal.

The Harleys added: “It has been an enormous privilege to be the custodians of the Uig Hotel and to serve this wonderful community over the years. After careful consideration, we believe the time is right to pass the hotel into new ownership.

“ICMI shares our love of Scottish hospitality, and we have every confidence that they will continue to serve the local community and create a hotel that both locals and travellers will be proud of for many years to come."

In January this year, ICMI exited its decade-long managing partnership with Crossbasket Castle near Glasgow.

ICMI was founded in 2004 by the leadership team at Inverlochy Castle.
