Ivy Asia to open its first branch in Wales

The Ivy Asia is to open its first site in Wales this summer, marking the group's seventh restaurant.

The restaurant brand currently operates six sites across London's St Paul's, Chelsea and Mayfair, and Guildford, Manchester and Brighton.

Its newest venue will be located on the Hayes at the St David's shopping centre and seat 166 guests for both indoor and outdoor dining.

Executive chef Simon Gregory, who previously worked at D&D London and the Ace Hotel, has overseen the menu selection, which will include favourites from sister restaurants in Chelsea and Brighton.

Sushi and sashimi dishes will include wagyu beef tataki; salmon sashimi; spiced yuzu and avocado salsa; as well as plant-based options such as avocado crispy tofu.

Drinks such as cocktails, sakes, wines, Champagnes and Jing specialty Asian teas will also be available.

The interior will feature green onyx flooring, two large cherry blossom trees and Paul Clifford artwork.

Gregory said: "Cardiff is known for its vibrant atmosphere and rich culture, making it the perfect place for this new Asian inspired concept. The team we have in place is fantastic and the restaurant itself will offer a beautiful setting for all occasions."

Helen Morgan, centre director at St David's, added: "The Ivy Asia will be a fantastic addition to our restaurant offering and we expect it to be very popular. We know our guests will enjoy The Ivy Asia's high-quality food and drink, served in a gorgeous setting."

The Ivy Asia is a brand under restaurateur Richard Caring's Caprice Holdings portfolio, along with the Ivy Collection, J Sheekey, Sexy Fish and Scott's.
