James Goodyear to join Evelyn's Table as head chef

James Goodyear is to take over as head chef at Michelin-starred Evelyn's Table in London early next year.

He will step up to the pass following the departure of Luke Selby, who is leaving to join Le Manoir aux quat'Saisons in Oxfordshire as executive head chef in January.

Goodyear has been head chef at Michelin-starred Adam's in Birmingham since 2021. He and Selby both joined Le Manoir as young chefs in 2009 and Goodyear went on to head up the kitchen at Ollie Dabbous' Michelin-starred Hide in London.

He will join Evelyn's Table on 17 January. The restaurant opened in 2020 and is located the original beer cellar of Layo and Zoë Paskin's Blue Posts pub on Rupert Street in London's Soho. It seats just 12 diners around a chef's table and won a Michelin star in 2022.

Zoë and Layo said: "This is an exciting new era for Evelyn's Table. The restaurant is focused on fostering creativity and originality, combining the finest British ingredients with techniques and flavours from across the globe.

"James has worked in some of the world's best kitchens, and we can't wait to see what he brings to the pass. We're very much looking forward to welcoming James after we return from our annual Christmas break."

Goodyear said: "It has been really exciting watching [Evelyn's Table] go from strength to strength over the past few years, including earning a Michelin star, and I'm looking forward to getting started with the team."

Selby's brothers Nathaniel and Theodore, who have worked alongside him at Evelyn's Table, will also be leaving to move to the kitchen at Le Manoir.
