Julie Hutchison appointed hotel manager at Macdonald Pittodrie House

Julie Hutchison has been named hotel manager at Macdonald Pittodrie House near Inverurie in Aberdeenshire.

She has joined the role from sister venue Macdonald Norwood Hall in Aberdeen, where she was based for just under a year.

The psychology graduate from St Andrews University has previously worked across brands such as Hilton and Marriott, as well as the Old Course hotel in St Andrews, during her decade in hospitality.

At Macdonald Pittodrie House, Hutchison will be responsible for bolstering the hotel’s growing wedding offering, as well as day-to-day operations at the 300-acre estate in Chapel of Garioch.

She said: “I’m excited to have the opportunity to lead the team at Macdonald Pittodrie House and look forward to making a positive difference for our new and returning guests, team members and local community, which will ultimately help the business achieve its goals.

“We have an extremely talented team in place across all aspects of the business and I’ve been hugely impressed with their dedication since starting this role. We are now looking to grow the team with further recruitment planned this year thanks to an encouraging pipeline of events, conferences and weddings booked.”

She added: “The hotel has always had a strong reputation for hosting wedding ceremonies of all sizes and we take great pride in providing brides and grooms with the high levels of service and customer care they rightly expect.”

Macdonald Hotels and Resorts was established in 1990 by Donald Macdonald and Gerry Smith.

The Scottish-headquartered hotel group now operates 28 hotels and 10 resorts in the UK and Spain.
