Lunar Pub Company to open second London site

Lunar Pub Company is to open its second London site, in Belgravia, on 7 September.

The group was founded by Hubert Beatson-Hird and chef Oliver Marlowe in 2019 and also runs the Hunter's Moon pub in South Kensington.

Its second venue, named the Ganymede, will launch on Ebury Street at the former Ebury restaurant site with a 30-cover bar and 55-cover dining room.

Head chef Daniel Mertl, who previously headed up the kitchen at London's Noize and the Michelin-starred Glasshouse, will serve a menu of daily changing British dishes such as foie gras Wellington, creamed potatoes and roast shallot; and Cornish hake with white bean puree, roast salsify and burnt lemon and caper dressing.

The pub will also serve Saturday brunch and roasts alongside an extensive wine list, cocktails, spirits, lagers and real ales.

Beatson-Hird has previously held general manager and consultant roles in hospitality, while Marlowe's CV includes time as executive chef at Cityglen Pub Company and sous chef at Chez Bruce.

Marlowe said: "To reflect the Belgravia location, we've introduced an elegance to the interiors, and this is something head chef Dan Mertl has also channelled into his menu too.

"Having had the pleasure of previously working with Dan at the Glasshouse in Kew, I know how talented he is and I'm excited to showcase the elevated culinary creations we have designed for Ganymede."
