Manchester's first boutique hotel set for refurbishment

Manchester's first boutique hotel, the Great John Street hotel, is set for a refurbishment that will see the property reduce its number of bedrooms from 30 to 24 for the creation of a ‘supersuite'

The former school, which became a boutique hotel in 2005, has applied for planning permission to refurbish the property, including a reimagining of its rooftop bar and roof terrace, and a ground floor ‘glasshouse' extension.

Documents filed with Manchester City Council suggest six of the bedrooms will be combined to create the ‘supersuite', which will include a main lounge.
