Mark Greenaway to open two restaurants at Haweswater hotel

Chef Mark Greenaway is to open two restaurants at the Haweswater hotel in Bampton, Cumbria, in January.

One of the restaurants will be called Mark Greenaway at the Haweswater hotel and will be a fine dining restaurant offering a la carte menus using seasonal, local produce.

Dishes will include BBQ shiitake mushrooms on toast; 11-hour slow roast pork belly and sticky toffee pudding soufflé.

The second restaurant will be called Brasserie Thirty Seven, named after the year the hotel was completed. It will serve uncomplicated, unfussy brasserie-style food such as fish and chips and homemade pies.

Greenaway said: "Being part of such a historic building in the inspirational and magnificent Lake District is a chef's dream. A stunning local larder of world class ingredients, with a sense of potential and a true home from home feel in a picturesque location.

"Our guests will experience some new and unique dishes in serene and majestic yet snug surroundings. Relaxing and accessible to all, an experience we hope they will wish to return for time and again. Our focus will be on delighting our diners with memories to cherish, a journey with splendid food, drink and hospitality in a friendly and graceful fashion".

Greenaway's other restaurants include Grazing at Edinburgh's Waldorf Astoria and Pivot in London.
