Here are all the hospitality venues set to launch across the UK in May 2025
We have a bumper crop of restaurant openings coming up this May as we make the most of sunnier evenings and bank holiday weekends. A whole spread of cuisines is entering the market, with Cinnamon Kitchen setting foot in Leeds while Ukrainian-inspired restaurant Sino from the president of the Bocuse D’Or in Ukraine sets eyes on its Notting Hill launch.
From steak tartare with cured yolk and nori seasoned crisps at Belly bistro in Kentish Town to hake with caramelised fennel at Emberwood in Bath, we’re sure to be feasting in a balmy prologue to summer.

Rural retreat Fowlescombe Farm has opened its doors in the foothills of Dartmoor. Guests can stay in the regenerative farm’s ten luxury suites, which have been designed by Swiss architect Studio Gugger and creative director Paul Glade. It also features a flagship farm-to-table restaurant – the Refectory – headed by executive chef Elly Wentworth.

Chef Asimakis Chaniotis, previously of the Michelin-starred Pied à Terre, has launched his debut restaurant, Myrtos, in London’s South Kensington. Taking its name from the island of Kefalonia’s famed beach, the restaurant showcases elevated Greek cuisine, as well as artwork from Yorgos Papadopoulos and Christos Raptis.

The Aubrey, the Japanese izakaya at London’s Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, has launched a luxury ‘sando bar’. Each sando features two slices of home-made shokupan bread, ‘kewpie’ mayo and tonkatsu sauce. The menu has been curated by executive chef Sebastian Comerso.

Dishoom has launched its first London-based Permit Room, which started as a spin-off bar in Brighton in 2023. Spread across three floors, Permit Room Portobello is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and also sleeps guests at its debut room offering – the Lodging Houses.

The 42-bedroom Polo Club hotel has opened its doors within the Dallas Burston Polo Club in Southam, Warwickshire. Managed by Focus Hotels, the property offers additional amenities such as the Caesar’s Lounge, the Millstone Hare gastropub, access to four professional polo pitches, a fully-equipped gym and a variety of meetings and events spaces.

The restaurant has been designed by Martin Brudnizki Design Studio and is centred around a custom-built, eight-foot wood-burning hearth.

Modern Filipino-European bistro Belly is set to open in London’s Kentish Town. From the former half of Maginhawa Group, Omar Shah, who is behind Mamasons Dirty ice cream and Ramo Ramen, the 35-cover restaurant will offer unique dishes such as steak tartare with cured yolk and nori seasoned crisps and beef fat fries with house-made Sriracha Thousand Island sauce.

Credit: Viktoriia KlymentievaPolina Sychova and chef Eugene Korolev – president of Bocuse D’Or Ukraine – are set to open Ukrainian-inspired restaurant Sino in London’s Notting Hill. Taking its name from the Ukrainian word for ‘hay’, the 52-cover restaurant will pay homage to the country’s varied terrain. Ukrainian mixologist Ana Reznik, formerly of A Bar with Shapes for a Name, has created a cocktail menu featuring the likes of Buckwheat Milk Punch and Apple Bun.

Mediterranean salad bar Bibi’s has launched in the City of London with ambitions of consolidating its presence in the white collar lunch market. Since Turkish-born chef Bilur Yapici and her partner Tansel started the business in 2018, it has grown to more than seven sites across the capital.

The Hong Kong-inspired Little Blue Noodle Bar has opened at the Peninsula London, offering four signature noodle dishes celebrating chef Hou’s heritage, with the support of Jonnie Liang, executive sous chef at the Peninsula Beijing. A secret dish centred around Peking duck will also be available during the launch period.

Chef Vivek Singh is set to open Cinnamon Kitchen’s first restaurant outside of London this month at the Queens hotel in Leeds, 17 years after the launch of the brand. The menu pays homage to the 2,355-mile journey of the Himsagar Express and infuses British influences into traditionally Indian dishes, with a couple Leeds exclusives added into the mix.

Harneet Baweja of HB Company – owner of Gunpowder in London’s Liverpool Street and Bib Gourmand Empire Empire in London’s Notting Hill – is expanding his restaurant portfolio with the launch of Fortune Fried Chicken, which will serve Thai fried chicken in Old Spitalfields Market. With executive chef Jane Alty at the helm, formerly of Peckham’s Begging Bowl, Fortune Fried Chicken will share her passion for Thai fried chicken, which she discovered while working under chef David Thompson.

David Hazell, formerly of the Michelin-starred Paco Tapas and Bristol’s Clifton Lido, has been named executive head chef at Bath’s new restaurant specialising in open-fire cooking: Emberwood. Located within the Francis Hotel in Bath, the project is being led by the London-based Five Graces Hospitality, who are behind Julie’s in Holland Park and Dorian in Notting Hill.

Market Place is set to open its latest food hall in London’s St Paul’s at the end of May. It comes after managing director Blake Henderson told The Caterer last September of his plans to double the group’s estate this year with a focus on central London sites. The 6,834 sq ft venue will open near St Paul’s Cathedral with nine traders showcasing food from regions including South America, Thailand and Greece.

Chef Yiannis Mexis, previously head chef at the Michelin-starred Hide in London’s Mayfair, has launched his first restaurant, Pyro, in London’s Borough. The former chef at the three-Michelin-starred Ledbury and the Michelin-starred Elystan Street has created a sharing plates menu embedded in contemporary Greek taverna culture. Meanwhile, the cocktail list has also been devised by Ana Reznik, previously of A Bar With Shapes For A Name.

Open from breakfast to dinner, Hello Jojo will serve everything from chocolate rye Swiss rolls to Tamworth pork chop with spring garlic soubise.

Led by executive chef Olly Pierrepont, previously head chef of Luca and La Trompette, alongside head chef Andy Bright of Kerridge’s Bar and Grill and Zinzan Riess-Hollier of Luca, Town will offer sustainable British produce with an emphasis on ethical sourcing.
