In March, the £1.3b development welcomed Des Gunewardena’s Pillar Hall
The £1.3b Olympia development in London has revealed further details of its restaurants, bars and hotels opening in the coming months.
The 140-year-old London landmark recently welcomed D3 Collective’s Pillar Hall, comprising the 300-cover all-day restaurant Idalia, speakeasy-style bar Pepperbird and 500+ capacity live music and events venue Upstairs at Pillar Hall, due to open this autumn.
On 15 June, Olympia will welcome its Canopy rooftop, which will consist of several F&B outlets from Incipio Group, ranging from Mexican-inspired Bar Arriba to Japanese restaurant and cocktail bar Wolves of Tokyo, and British small plates and English sparkling concept Lillie’s (pictured).
The Canopy will also feature food hall Arbour, which will house four more outlets: Fry Baby, the Rambler, Whammy Burger and Café Modo.
On 16 June, the British Airways ARC, the 3,800-capacity live music and entertainment venue operated by AEG Presents, will launch at Olympia with the Mercury Prize-nominated Self Esteem headlining two nights.
The venue’s summer line-up already consists of British band McFly (18 June), Zac Brown Band (25 June), Van Morrison (23-29 September) and Khalid (24 October).
To keep up with the increased footfall, Olympia will welcome two new hotels: the 204-room Hyatt Regency London Olympia, opening on 6 July, and the 146-room CitizenM London Olympia, which is due to open in early summer.
A 250-metre-long pedestrianised street, Olympia Way, is also scheduled for completion later this year, while the Canvas, an 83-metre-long, 8-metre-wide digital screen will launch later this summer to showcase digital art and live content.
The One Olympia office block, spread over 550,000 sq ft, will be home to Premier League Studios, an International Convention Centre and the Addison premium lounge.
Michael Volkert, chief executive of Olympia Estates, said: “This series of incredible summer openings marks the beginning of an exciting chapter for Olympia, highlighting its evolution into a dynamic new destination where our guests will be able to experience the best of London’s culture, entertainment and hospitality. With so much to discover, we cannot wait to welcome visitors from the capital, the UK and all over the world to explore everything that Olympia has to offer.”
Once fully operational, Olympia is predicted to inject £600m into the UK economy each year, generating 7,000 jobs and attracting 3.5 million visitors to its new hotels.
Olympia is being developed by Yoo Capital and Deutsche Finance International and will be operated by Olympia Estates.
