Portuguese-inspired kitchen residency Tasca to return to London

Portuguese and Spanish-inspired kitchen residency Tasca is to return to London later this month with a takeover of coffee shop Project 44 in Shoreditch.

It comes roughly 10 months after Tasca’s head chef Josh Dallaway and sommelier Sinead Murdoch closed their Bethnal Green residency at wine bar Câv four months earlier than planned in September 2025.

Since leaving Tasca at Câv, the pair have hosted pop-ups at Bloco in Lisbon, No Bar Wine Bar in Bangkok and the Scrandit in Bristol.

The duo have joined forces with Graham Hussey and Mark Juby at Project 44 to resurrect their southern European food and wine bar from 29 July following a week-long soft launch.

Dishes such as cured Cecina de León (Spanish cured beef) on grilled bread with cep butter, Dexter beef tartare, Nutbourne tomato tart with manchego and watercress, and Cornish mussel and chorizo rice will be paired to a selection of summery wines from smaller, low-intervention producers.

Project 44 will continue to operate as a coffee shop during the day, while Tasca’s dishes and drinks will be available in the evenings.

Tasca’s residency at Project 44 is “open-ended for now, based on how the next couple months will go”.

Last year, David Ellis of The Standard gave Tasca at Câv a glowing review for its “beautiful food and fair prices”, while Leonie Cooper of Time Out said: “Our only wish now is for this residency to become permanent – a mere year of Tasca simply doesn’t seem long enough.”

Tasca at Cav was launched in March 2025 by Dallaway, previously of Hackney wine bar Sager + Wilde, and Murdoch, formerly of Bistro Freddie in Shoreditch.
