The former the River Café executive pastry chef hopes to raise £50,000 through the campaign
The founder of Islington’s Quince Bakery has launched a crowdfunding campaign in a bid to open all-day café Clementine opposite its original site.
Anna Higham, formerly executive pastry chef at the River Café in London’s Hammersmith and group head of pastry at Lyle’s in London’s Shoreditch, hopes to raise £50,000 through the campaign to help fit out the new space.
She plans to serve breakfast, brunch and lunch with a menu that includes porridge, soup and toasties as well as Quince’s tattie scones, pies and buns.
Higham said: "The goal is to continue the community feel we have built at Quince Bakery with a similarly joyful and creative menu. We’ll be keeping the same focus on British traditions and working closely with the best suppliers, which is really at the heart of everything we do."
Rewards for contributions will range from a scone with Ivy House cream and quince jam at the café to a harvest dinner cooked by Anna and Harry McKenzie or bread for a year.
Quince opened in 2024 in New North Road.
The crowdfunder will run until the end of June and can be viewed here.
