Andrew Pern to open new restaurant in York

Award-winning Yorkshire chef Andrew Pern is set to open a new restaurant in York.

Pern, who owns the Star Inn at Harome near Helmsley, is planning to open a 130-seat site in a converted engine house building in the city, close to Museum Gardens.

He is working alongside fellow former Scarborough Catering College student Justin Brosenitz for the project, which will focus on locally-sourced produce.

Pern is a three-time Catey winner, having collected the Newcomer award in 1998, the Menu of the Year in 1997, and the Pub and Bar award in 2002.
