Anton Piotrowski leaves the Treby Arms to set up new venture

Chef Anton Piotrowski has left the Michelin-starred Treby Arms in Sparkwell near Plympton in Devon.

The Michelin-starred pub said that Piotrowski, executive head chef, was leaving after six years to pursue other culinary interests.

Piotrowski is launching his own restaurant venture in Plymouth on Ebrington Street tomorrow called Brown & Bean with friends Paul Brown and Ben McBean (pictured).

He continues to hold a stake in Treby Taverns Limited, which also owns the Springer Spaniel in Treburley, Launceston, Cornwall, along with fellow shareholders, Desmond Whitehouse, Mark Downton and Graham Milford. No decision has yet been taken as to whether or not Piotrowski will now sell his share in the business but he has already resigned as a director.

Since opening the Treby Arms in 2011, the group have steered the pub to becoming a foodie destination. In addition to a Michelin star, it also holds two AA rosettes. Piotrowski was also named Devon Life's 2015 Chef of the Year and was the 2012 joint winner of the BBC's MasterChef: The Professionals. Already this year the Treby Arms was named as ‘County Dining Pub of the Year 2017' for Devon and the team achieved the accolade of ‘Front of House Team of the Year 2017'.

Des Whitehouse, director of Treby Traverns Limited said: "Anton has made an incredible contribution to the success of both pubs."

"He's young, talented and successful and he's breathed life back into two village pubs."

"We're incredibly grateful for Anton's energy and enthusiasm in helping our great teams at The Treby Arms and The Springer Spaniel to achieve these accolades and we wish him well in his new ventures."

A new head chef for the pub is expected to be announced shortly.
