Bat and Ball bar from Urban Pubs and Bars set for Westfield Stratford
The Bat and Ball, a new pop-up ping-pong ball bar and café from Nick Pring and Malcolm Heap of Urban Pubs and Bars, is to open at Westfield Stratford City on 14 December.
The 12,000 sq ft site, which is also in collaboration with former Geronimo Inns managing director Ed Turner, will be split across two floors and feature a whole floor of 10 ping-pong tables, plus a lounge bar and a deli counter. There will also be private VIP ping-pong table rooms to hire.
The day-to-night space will serve coffee, pizzas, and deli snacks during the day, with typical dishes such as sourdough toasties and wraps with fillings including chorizo, chipotle and roasted red peppers.
There will also be a selection of salads on offer including roasted Mediterranean vegetables with quinoa, confit garlic and shaved parmesan; plus homemade artisan pizzas; and sharing platters including the "Meaty" with baby back ribs, sweet ‘n' smoky chicken wings, barbecue pulled pork, barbecue beans, and potato wedges; plus buckets such as hot wings in hot sauce with a blue cheese dip; and side dishes such as nachos.
Dessert options will include a chocolate brownie with hot chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream, and three ice cream sundaes to choose from, including honeycomb and salted caramel ice cream.
The drinks menu will include cocktail jugs, and a selection of beers, such as the local Trumans, a range of bottled craft varieties and wine from the Cave de Pyrenees.
Commenting on the new opening, Heap said: "Our team will be serving up food snacks and meals throughout the day to cater for all tastes. The menu offers a breadth of all-day grazing options to run alongside a curated craft beer. Westfield has just got hipper!"
Urban Pubs and Bars was created in 2014, and currently operates eight venues across London, including the Rose Pub and Kitchen, the Lord Wargrave, and the Wheatsheaf.
