Bluewater reopens Wintergarden following multimillion-pound redevelopment
Bluewater shopping centre in Kent today reopened its Wintergarden, following a multimillion-pound redevelopment.
The Wintergarden is home to 11 restaurant brands: operators include six newcomers to Bluewater, including Wasabi, Tortilla, Square Pie, Indi-Go, Lola's Cupcakes and Tossed, all which have launched their first outlet outside of the capital.
The redevelopment has increased the Wintergarden's capacity by 50% to a total of over 1,000 covers, with a focus on social dining.
Commenting on the reopening of the Wintergarden, Russell Loveland, senior asset manager at Lend Lease, said: "Shopping is a leisure pursuit, which makes it a social one. The ability to spend time with friends and family, without compromising on location or choice of food, is therefore vital.
"The redevelopment of the Wintergarden reflects this growing trend by delivering social dining on a scale never before seen in the UK, led by a fantastic line-up of brands. It is a very exciting concept, and one that readily integrates with social media and in-mall technology."
The relaunch of follows the opening of the Plaza and Glow in November last year. Catering sales at Bluewater increased by 22% in September 2012 compared with 2011.
