Bronte for sale 18 months after opening

Bronte restaurant on London's Strand has been put on the market just 18 months after opening.

The Antipodean/Pacific cuisine restaurant opened on the former site of the Strand Dining Rooms in July 2016, overseen by executive chef Andrew Lassetter and head chef Jonathan Villar, and owned by father and son Trevor and Adam Davies.

The Tom Dixon-designed venue overlooks Trafalgar Square and was named after Horatio Nelson, the 1st Duke of Bronte, who stands on top of Nelson's Column on the square.

Christie & Co is seeking offers in excess of £850,000 for the lease, goodwill, fixtures and fittings of the restaurant. The 200-cover venue has a bar, brasserie and two dining rooms plus outside seating overlooking the square.

Simon Chaplin, Christie & Co's head of restaurants, said: "Sites in such iconic locations rarely become available and to be able to bring to the market Bronte, with is stylish interior and established trade, is a real bonus."

Representatives for Bronte declined to comment.
