Burro e Salvia closes East Dulwich restaurant due to ‘inconsistent' trading
Italian restaurant Burro e Salvia has closed its restaurant and shop in East Dulwich, London after the location failed to see growth.
Burro e Salvia, which also runs pasta making workshops, confirmed the closure after it was revealed by Twitter user @tuckandvine who tweeted: "sad Jan restaurant news… use em or lose em folks."
The restaurant posted: "We had kept it quiet as still busy moving things and making plans, but it has indeed happened…Thanks to all…"
Burro e Salvia's founder Gaia Enria told The Caterer that business had been "inconsistent" in the residential area, with limited footfall reducing passing trade.
Enria explained: "I found myself struggling in keeping both branches open with only one driving. So when I got an offer for the ED location, I saw the best way out.
"We are moving our resources and staff to Shoreditch where it was much needed and we are now aiming at growing there."
The East Dulwich branch was opened in 2015, two years after the restaurant's Shoreditch home in Redchurch Street.
January has seen a number of restaurant closures including Bistrot de Luxe, 8 Hoxton Square and Turners at 69 as well as a slew of announcements from causal dining brands that venues will be shutting their doors for good.
