Cantina Augusto to expand restaurant concept

London restaurant company Cantina Augusto plans to expand its business and roll out between 10 and 15 new eateries in the next three years.

The company, which currently owns one eponymous restaurant on London's Clerkenwell Road, is currently "working hard" to acquire new sites including small restaurant chains and individual units.

Locations are unlikely to include central London but will be focused on the outskirts of the Home Counties such as Hertfordshire and Hampshire.

Cantina Augusto's board of directors has secured initial investment for the expansion and is looking for further investors to finance the roll out. The group is currently in negotiations over a number of locations.

Cantina Augusto has appointed Italian TV chef Gino D'Acampo as operations consultant to reshape the operational running of the business. His role will include the redesign of menus as well as the interior of the restaurants.

Cantina Augusto chief executive officer Adriano Bernabei told Caterersearch the restaurants would be family-focused Italian eateries.

"It's all about authentic Italian cuisine with fresh ingredients and reasonable prices," he said. "The appointment of D'Acampo's will no doubt help to drive the business forward through his remarkable energy and passion for Italian cuisine."

Bernabei added that although a drop in consumer spend was of concern, the group was hoping to set itself apart from competitors by offering "excellent value for money".
