Caprice ties up events division with Urban

Restaurant group Caprice Holdings has acquired events production and catering company Urban Productions. The business will be merged with Caprice Holdings' existing events company, Caprice Events, under the new title Urban Caprice.

Caprice managing director Des McDonald said that restaurants would remain the company's principal focus. "Restaurants are obviously our core business, but we felt the acquisition would help develop our events resources," he said.

Caprice's stable includes London restaurants the Ivy, Le Caprice, J Sheekey, Daphne's and Bam-Bou.

Urban Productions founder Jonathan Rutherfurd Best will stay on as managing director of the newly enlarged division. Caprice chef-director Mark Hix will oversee the culinary direction of the business.

Urban Productions' clients include Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Mercedes-Benz, Channel 4, Vogue, Saatchi & Saatchi, the Royal Academy and Selfridges.
