Care home owner buys West Sussex beachside café

The Lobster Pot Café, which overlooks the beach on the Esplanade in Felpham, West Sussex, has been sold to a local care home owner.

Originating as a tea cabin from the 1920s, the café is within walking distance of Bognor Regis and attracts custom from the nearby Butlin's Holiday Camp.

The single-storey property, which fronts the beach walkway and is popular with locals and tourists alike, can seat 52 customers inside with more seats available on the café terrace.

Its menu of all-day English breakfasts, snacks, and daily lunch specials made on-site from fresh produce (including locally-caught fish and crab) attracts a high level of repeat trade.

The Winchester office of Christie + Co was seeking offers in excess of £160,000 for the leasehold on behalf of John Pateman and Sue Meuss, who have owned and operated the café for the past nine years.
