Chatime to open fifth bubble tea shop

Bubble tea shop Chatime is to open its fourth London site and its fifth overall later this month.

The business, owned by Peter Wong, will open at 236 Portobello Road in Notting Hill on 15 August.

It will serve Taiwanese bubble tea, with a selection of hot and cold teas in a variety of flavours on a 63-strong menu.

Bubble tea, which is often brightly coloured, has a froth on the top of the drink and often contains tapioca balls, became popular in Taiwan in the 1980s. In recent years it has become increasingly popular in the UK.

In addition to its existing London sites in Old Compton Street, Gerrard Street, and the Brunswick, it also has a site on Long Row in Nottingham.
