Chicago Rib Shack to open in London's Aldgate East
American-style eaterie Chicago Rib Shack will be opening its sixth UK site in Aldgate East, London in early October.
The company's other sites include Clapham, Stratford, Camden and Twickenham in the capital, along with the Leeds site at Trinity Kitchen.
Restaurant and leisure agent Restaurant Property was behind the deal for the 1,993 sq ft unit on Wentworth Street in Aldgate. The 125-cover restaurant will replace Copita del Mercado.
All Chicago Rib Shack burgers, sauces and relishes will be made fresh on site every day.
Ribs will also be prepared using a secret dry-spice rub and lightly smoked for up to eight hours over applewood in specialist ovens.
In addition, the menu will feature wings, hotdogs, pulled pork, chicken strips and sides, as well as shakes, beer and wine.
Christian Arden, chief executive of Chicago Rib Shack, said: "We are delighted with this new site in this up-and-coming part of London.
"We are sure Aldgate East will become a buzzing destination alongside its neighbour in Shoreditch."
David Rawlinson, founder and agency director at Restaurant Property, added: "Aldgate East is an exciting and changing part of London, and I'm sure local residents and office workers will be pleased to have a Chicago Rib Shack on their doorstep."
The lease assignment at Aldgate East will run until 2029.
