Chris Colmer wins Roux Diners Club Scholarship

Chris Colmer, 25-year-old head chef at the Greenway hotel near Cheltenham, has won the 1995 Roux Diners Club Scholarship.

Mr Colmer beat five other young chefs in a cook-off at the Four Seasons Hotel, London, in which the finalists had two hours to prepare a classic fish stew, having been given the recipe only 30 minutes earlier.

He wins the chance to work for three months under the guidance of a 3-star Michelin chef, at any establishment in Europe. In addition, he wins a week's work in the kitchens of a luxury cruise liner and £1,500 cash.

The runner-up was Trevor Blyth, aged 26, head chef at Giraud's restaurant in Burnham, Buckinghamshire.
