Cook School Scotland chef-director to oversee Edinburgh's Festival in the Sky

Former Le Gavroche head chef Steven Doherty is to oversee the cooking for Scotland's first Festival in the Sky dining experience this August.

The unique event, which forms part of the Edinburgh Festival, will see a 22-seat dinner table hoisted in the air by a crane in West Princes Street Gardens in the Scottish capital.

The experience has taken place in 30 countries as Dinner in the Sky, but has never come to Scotland. Throughout August, when the Festival in the Sky will run, guests are able to book in for 30 minute sittings at breakfast, lunch or high tea. All 22 diners are strapped into their chairs, which rotate so they can enjoy views of Edinburgh

Doherty, who was the first British chef to head up a three-Michelin-star kitchen when he was appointed head chef of Le Gavroche in 1988, now runs the Cook School Scotland](http://www.braeheadfoods.co.uk/CookSchool/) and will be chef director of Festival in the Sky during its time in Scotland.

"Having been such a roaring success from Monaco to Las Vegas, The Cook School Scotland is delighted to be involved in the premier of Festival in the Sky this year in Edinburgh," Doherty said.

"This will be an unforgettable experience. The Cook School will be using Scottish produce to create an uplifting menu to raise diners' spirits."
