Costa Coffee hits 2,000 sites

Whitbread-owned Costa Coffee has opened its 2,000th store.

The Leeds Briggate site is also the first store outside of London to have the new-look "Metropolitan" design.

John Derkach, managing director of Costa, said: "Costa is enjoying fantastic growth both in the UK and overseas. We're delighted to have reached this milestone of 2,000 stores around the world as we strive to make Costa the world's favourite coffee shop brand."

Costa operates in 25 international markets, including stores in China and India. It is planning to open around 300 stores worldwide this year and aims to hit 3,500 stores globally by 2015/16.
