Craig Millar to open his first solo venture in Fife

Award-winning Scottish chef Craig Millar is to launch his first solo venture next month with the opening of Craig Millar @ 16 West End in East Neuk, Fife.

The former executive chef and partner at the Seafood Restaurants in St Monans and St Andrews in Fife has taken over the St Monans eaterie and will reopen it as his eponymous restaurant on 4 June.

The recently refurbished 44-seat restaurant is located at the water's edge in the fishing village of St Monans offering views of the harbour and the Isle of May.

Millar intends to continue his focus on local seafood but will broaden his new menu to also include other Scottish ingredients such as lamb and Aberdeen Angus beef. Open for lunch and dinner, he will offer set menus of three courses as well as a five-course tasting menu at dinner.

Millar spent 13 years at the helm of the Seafood Restaurants in partnership with Tim Butler, who will remain in control of the St Andrews restaurant.

During this time the pair won accolades including AA Seafood Restaurant of the Year and AA Restaurant of the Year for Scotland as well as Speciality Restaurant of the Year at the Scottish Restaurant Awards. Both restaurants were also named Newcomer of the Year by the Good Food Guide.

Commenting on the new launch Millar said: "I'm really proud of everything Tim and I have achieved in the last 13 years but it has always been my ambition to have my own place."
