Cumbernauld Little Chef to become Chinese restaurant

The former Little Chef restaurant on the A80 at Cumbernauld had been bought by the owners of the nearby Silk Cottage Chinese restaurant in Gartcosh, North Lanarkshire.

The venue has been closed since the start of the year when Little Chef slid into administration. The head lease is held by the Travelodge budget hotel chain.

As a Little Chef, it provided up to 92 seats, along with a Burger King kiosk. The property is currently being gutted for a planned relaunch as a Silk Cottage restaurant in mid-November.

The sale of the venue was handled by the Glasgow office of Christie + Co. With no good will attached, the leasehold attracted only a small premium, while annual rent is in the region of £81,000.
