David Baldwin is new RA chairman

David Baldwin has succeeded Nick Scade as chairman of the Restaurant Association (RA).

Baldwin, previously RA vice-chairman, owns Sheffield restaurant Baldwins Omega.

The new vice-chairman is Robert Walton, proprietor of Trunkwell Mansion House hotel, Reading, Berkshire.

Baldwin credited Scade, who was chairman for three years and runs the New Mill restaurant in Eversley, Hampshire, for overseeing the organisation's successful merger with the British Hospitality Association in January 2003.

"I'm determined to continue protecting members' interests in the best way possible," said Baldwin.
